The security implications of IoT devices are only going to increase as we become more connected. In this project, I eavesdropped on encrypted internet traffic from a Ring doorbell, then cleaned the data to train a decision tree classifier. The classifier identified whether the Ring was idle, capturing motion, or actively streaming.
Being able to detect malware is critical for incident response. In this project, my team and I chose a dataset of Android malware internet traffic and compared the performance of different machine-learning model types. I implemented the multilayer perceptron and wrote the README.
